The city of Hoboken has made its first arrest in connection to its new electric scooters after police say a man rode against the flow of traffic and struck a pedestrian.

The incident happened Wednesday around 12:43 p.m. on Newark and Hudson streets.

According to police, 35-year-old Carl Mattson, of Edison, rode the E-Scooter against the flow of traffic and hit a pedestrian who was in the crosswalk attempting to cross the street.

Police say the pedestrian's ankle was injured in the accident.

Mattson was ordered to stop, but kept riding against the flow of traffic.
