A massive crowd turned out in Yonkers Saturday to spread love in celebration of Pride Month.
The event on Main Street featured food, dancing and performances.
Politicians, local officials and representatives turned out as well, including Mayor Mike Spano, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins and City Council President Mike Khader.
"I mean not every place has a Pride Day and closes down their Main Street and has thousands of people, straight and gay and everything else, come and celebrate together,” says state Sen. Shelley Mayer. “And this is a credit of Yonkers acknowledging its diversity, embracing it and saying everyone is our neighbor, everyone is our friend today."
Mayer says she is proud of how far Yonkers has come in this realm.
