Ewing police rescue stranded motorists from flooding

Ewing police officers had to rescue at least six drivers who became stranded in flood waters Wednesday evening.
Strong thunderstorms crossed through New Jersey Wednesday afternoon and evening, bringing heavy rain and localized flash flooding.
“A few cars rolled by and I thought I could make it. Apparently not,” says driver Jorge Valle.
A tow truck had to pull Valle’s car from waist-deep water on Prospect Street. He says that he is now without a ride to work.
“The whole inside of my car is flooded,” he says. “My motor is flooded - everything.”
Neighbors say that Prospect Street is prone to flooding. Motorists are often advised not to drive through flooding because it is difficult to determine how deep the water is. Ewing police say that luckily no injuries were reported during the rescues.
Valle says that he has learned his lesson the hard way.
“When they say tornado watch, stay home to avoid all this craziness,” he says.
All of the cars pulled out of the water Wednesday suffered damage and will likely have to be totaled.
