The owner of a Greenwich business whose shop has been damaged by two car accidents over the past eight years is calling on the town to make safety improvements.
Sophia Scarpelli owns Sophia’s Costumes & Gifts on Liberty Way.
She says her shop was closed Monday when a car plowed into her store, marking the second time in the past eight years that a car has plowed into her store.
Scarpelli says the town did install safety barricades in front of her business following the last accident, but later took them down.
She says both accidents involved elderly drivers parking in the handicapped space in front of her store, and she says she would like that space moved away from her business.
State Rep. Fred Camillo says he has spoken with town officials about the problem and they have agreed to address it.
