Officials: House fire injures woman; residents jump to escape

A house fire in Hudson County has badly injured a woman and forced other residents to jump from windows to escape.
The fire started just before 6:30 p.m. inside a multifamily home on 70th Street between Park and Bellevue avenues.
Second-floor resident Christopher Rivera tells News 12 New Jersey that he and a relative were forced to jump from the second-story window to escape the fire, which is believed to have started in the basement of the home.
Firefighters found a woman on the first floor of the house. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for burns. Officials say she was badly injured.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
