A new app available on smartphones is showing people how they can enjoy life and socialize without drinking or being drunk.
For many Americans, dating and socializing are synonymous with consuming alcohol. For those in alcohol abuse recovery or simplify those who choose not to drink, it can be difficult to have an active social life.
The app Loosid can help with this.
“In order to have fun, they don’t have to have a drink in their hand,” says the app’s co-founder and CEO MJ Gottlieb.
Loosid provides its users with dating and nightlife options as well as travel and wellness events for those who wish to remain sober.
“You can see all these amazing experiences that can be had…living a sober life,” Gottlieb says.
Gottlieb says that the app idea started after a very personal struggle.
“I found myself in diners and coffee shops. If this is all there is and there’s no ability to have fun, then I’m going to go and continue to use substances,” he says.
Gottlieb says that there are plans to hold various sober events and sober lounges around New Jersey in the upcoming months.
Loosid can also provide 24-7 support for those committed to staying sober.
