Family member: Possible lead in case involving explosive device thrown at home

OLD BRIDGE -

A family member says there’s a possible lead in the Old Bridge case in which someone walked up to their car in the driveway and tossed what appeared to be an explosive device -- and it was all caught on video.

The flames destroyed a car and damaged parts of their home on Carter Drive.

After the device exploded, the car caught fire and was destroyed.

Part of the house was also damaged, including the driveway, siding and garage door.
The family was inside at the time, but got out safely. Some members caught the flames on cellphone video.

"This could have started a fire in my house -- we could be dead now,” says Julia Calco. “Don't know who this person is that would do this."

The family also obtained their neighbor’s RING doorbell video, which shows someone throwing the device into the car -- and then running away.

"Be aware and get cameras,” says Anthony Calco. “Be close with neighbors and work with the community getting people who are doing this."

The couple lives in the home with their three sons and dog, and fortunately, no one was injured.

The homeowner could not elaborate, but says police do have a lead in the case.

Anyone who may have information about the incident should call 732-721-5600, Ext. 3150.
