A water main break in Guttenberg left hundreds of people without water Thursday morning.

Guttenberg officials say that Suez Water crews stopped the water overflow on Boulevard East by Thursday afternoon and restored water service to “a vast majority of the area.”

A 16-inch water main ruptured early Thursday morning flooding the street with water and interrupting service to hundreds of Guttenberg and West New York residents, including a 13-story apartment building located at 7100 Boulevard East in Guttenberg.

Suez Water sent a water truck to the apartment building while repairs were made.

Guttenberg officials say that crews are excavating the site to repair the water main. Repairs were expected to last through Thursday night and possibly into Friday morning.
