Students back to class following report of 2 people with handgun

Students are back to class at a school in Newton following a precautionary shelter in place Tuesday involving a report of a handgun.
Students at Halsted Middle School reported seeing two people outside the building with a handgun.
Police determined the pair wasn’t armed and had a legitimate reason for being at the school.
The school was locked down for about an hour.
Newton's superintendent says he's grateful for the students who spoke up, even though no one was in danger.
