Carvel celebrates 85 years with 85-cent ice cream cones

Iconic ice cream chain Carvel celebrated its 85th anniversary Thursday by offering ice cream cones for just 85 cents.
Ice cream lovers were able to walk into most Carvel locations across the country to get a junior size cup or cone of their favorite soft-serve ice cream flavor.
Many New Jersey residents took advantage of the promotion as a way to cool off on a hot spring day. Temperatures reached the mid-70s in parts of the state.
In addition to the cheap ice cream cones, Carvel also announced that the company will donate $10,000 to the American Red Cross’ “South the Alarm” campaign, which helps install smoke alarms in at-risk communities and helps teach fire safety education.
