Road closures for 2019 NEFCU Long Island Marathon

The 2019 Long Island Marathon will start on Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Uniondale, adjacent to the Nassau Coliseum at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 5.

Road closures for 2019 NEFCU Long Island Marathon

The 2019 NEFCU Long Island Marathon will start on Park Boulevard at Eisenhower Park at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 5.
All road closures are ultimately decided by the Nassau County Police Department. Roads may be closed earlier, may remain closed longer, or may reopen sooner than the times posted here.
All times listed are approximate:
• Charles Lindbergh Boulevard - Closes at 6 a.m., reopens at 10:30 a.m. (Entire loop)
• Stewart Avenue - Closes at 6 a.m., reopens at 10:30 a.m. (Merchant's Concourse/Endo Boulevard to Merrick Avenue)
• Merrick Avenue - Closes at 6 a.m., reopens at 10:30 a.m. (Old Country Road to Hempstead Turnpike)
• Park Boulevard - Closes at 6 a.m., reopens at 10:30 a.m. (Hempstead Turnpike to Merrick Avenue)
• Westbound Hempstead Turnpike - Closes at 6 a.m., reopens at 11:15 a.m. (Wantagh Parkway to Merrick Avenue)
• Merrick Avenue - Closes at 6 a.m., reopens at 11:15 a.m. (Hempstead Turnpike to Bellmore Avenue)
• Bellmore Avenue - Closes at 6 a.m., reopens at 11:30 a.m. (Merrick Avenue to Jerusalem Avenue)
• Bellmore Avenue - Closes at 6 a.m., reopens at 12 p.m. (Jerusalem Avenue to Sunrise Highway)
• Westbound Sunrise Highway down - Traffic will be affected from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Bellmore Avenue to Wantagh Parkway) - Sunrise Highway (westbound only) will be reduced to a single lane of traffic. Eastbound Sunrise Highway will not be affected.
• Merrick Road down - Traffic will be affected from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Jones Avenue to Pine Street) - Merrick Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of the marathon period.
• Old Country Road down - Traffic will be affected from 7:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (Duffy Avenue to Carman Avenue) - Old Country Road will be reduced to one lane westbound only. Eastbound lanes will not be affected.
• Carman Avenue - Closes at 7:15 a.m., reopens at 2:15 p.m. (Old Country Road to Hempstead Turnpike)
• Stewart Avenue - Closes at 7:15 a.m., reopens at 2:15 p.m. (Carman Avenue to Salisbury Park Drive)
• Wantagh Parkway - Closes at 6 a.m., reopens at 2 p.m. (Northern State Parkway to Ocean Parkway)

Other Closures:
• Northern State Parkway exits to Post Avenue and Wantagh Parkway will be closed at 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• All exits and entrance ramps to and from Wantagh Parkway will be closed 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Meadowbrook Parkway exits and entrances to and from Charles Lindbergh Boulevard (Nassau Coliseum, Nassau Community College) and Eisenhower Park exits will be closed from 6 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
• Eisenhower Park's Park Boulevard will not allow through traffic between 5 a.m and 10:30 a.m. Public parking in sections of the park will be permitted until 6 a.m.
• Westbound side of Jericho Turnpike will remain open throughout the day
• Brush Hollow Road, south of Wantagh Parkway, will remain open throughout the day
