Police: Woman played dead after attacker slashed her throat

Police in Hackensack say a woman played dead after an attacker slashed her throat – and the quick-thinking may have saved her life.

The attack happened early Saturday morning.

According to police, the woman told police she pretended to be dead until the suspect, Jergere Minaya-Acosta, 50, of Hackensack, walked away.

Police found the woman at a residence on Coles Avenue.

Police say Jergere Minaya-Acosta turned himself in to police hours later.

He faces attempted murder charges, among other charges.

Police didn't say how the two knew each other.
