Members of the teacher's union say they want answers after an audit found that the Board of Education ended last year with a surplus of $1.6 million when teachers were asked to take unpaid furlough.
Concerned teachers attended a Board of Education meeting Monday night.
The teacher's union agreed to a two-day unpaid furlough last year because the board told them it was the only way to fix a $700,000 budget gap.
However, a recent audit revealed the board had a surplus of funds.
Superintendent Janet Robinson says she understands the teachers' frustration, and plans on meeting with union leaders next month to talk about how the deficit ended up becoming a surplus.
