A woman from Toms River has died after being hit by a car at the intersection of Route 166 and Route 37.

The accident happened Saturday around 11 p.m.

According to police, Cheryl Cwiklik, 45, as well as her husband, Kenneth Robinson, 48, began to cross Route 37 as the traffic light turned green.

Police say that's when a driver, Charles R. Jordan 4th, 22, of Manchester, who was driving a Nissan Altima, continued into the intersection and struck Cwiklik.

Witnesses say at the time the couple began to cross Route 37, the traffic signal just changed to green.
