Strong storms taper off, leaving downed trees, power outages

Strong storms that swept across the state, packing heavy rain and damaging winds, have tapered off, but not before leaving downed tree branches and power outages in its path.

The National Weather Service had originally issued a tornado watch through 7 a.m.

The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center had included parts of western New Jersey in an area of "enhanced risk" for severe weather. It was the same system that brought powerful storms and some twisters to the South this weekend.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist James Gregorio says the rest of the day should see temperatures in the mid-60s.

Temperatures overnight will drop into the low-40s, with gradual clearing skies. Conditions will be chilly and breezy.

Tuesday is expected to see temperatures in the moid-60s, with mostly sunny skies. Conditions will be very nice.

Wednesday is expected to see similar conditions to Tuesday.
