Police: Man faces attempted murder charges in botched drug deal

An 18-year-old Toms River man is facing charges in a botched drug deal, according to the town’s police department.
Garret Latorre faces several charges, including attempted murder, in a stabbing that happened April 6 in the K-Mart parking lot on Route 37 in Toms River.
Police say that Latorre and the victim met in the parking lot so that Latorre could sell him THC vaping cartridges. The two men apparently had a disagreement over the deal, leading to Latorre stabbing him multiple times in his legs, stomach and chest, according to police.
Police say that they identified Latorre based on the car that he was allegedly seen in leaving the scene. Police say that they found him in his home with blood on his hands. Police also recovered bloody clothing and the knife believed to have been used in the crime.
The victim underwent surgery and is expected to recover.
