One last spin: Iconic Casino Pier Carousel takes final ride
An iconic carousel that is more than 100 years old took its final spin Sunday night.
The Casino Pier Carousel takes its final ride as it is in need of some restoration work. Casino Pier officials say the carousel will be worked on throughout the summer before being removed in the fall.
They hope to reopen the classic ride by 2021.
The carousel was built in 1910 and was brought to Seaside Heights during the Great Depression.
Casino Pier's original owners were going to sell the carousel at auction, but instead swapped it for land in a deal with the Seaside Heights Borough Council.
