Demonstrators hold rally calling for preservation of Affordable Care Act

Demonstrators held a rally in Jersey City Monday to call for the preservation of the Affordable Care Act.
Sen. Bob Menendez joined Jersey City residents who said they benefit from the health care system. The rally was held as the Trump administration pushes to end the ACA, claiming that it is unconstitutional.
Menendez argues that millions of New Jersey residents would lose health care coverage of the ACA is revoked. He says that this would include seniors, college students and those with pre-existing conditions.
“3.8 million New Jerseyans with pre-existing conditions. President [Donald] Trump is attacking you. He’s attacking the very protections that stop health care companies, insurance companies, from discriminating against you just because you survived a battle with cancer or struggled with a chronic condition like diabetes or depression or even gave birth to a child,” Menendez said.
The senator also said that 1.6 million New Jersey residents are enrolled in Medicare. He says that they would no longer have access to primary care visits if the ACA is revoked.
