State regulators seize more than $107K from prohibited gamblers
(AP) - New Jersey regulators have seized more than $107,000 won by underage or otherwise prohibited gamblers at Atlantic City's Borgata casino.
The action made public recently by the state Division of Gaming Enforcement also includes an $81,000 fine for the Borgata's online gambling partner, bwin.party.
The cases involve gamblers who were under the legal age of 21, or those who signed themselves up for a self-exclusion list, but were allowed to gamble sooner than their exclusions permitted.
The list lets people who feel they have a gambling problem bar themselves from casino and online gambling for varying periods.
The Borgata says it takes gambling compliance seriously and notes that it discovered and reported the illegal gamblers to the state on its own.
Other casinos were cited for similar but smaller cases.
