EDISON -

Police say one person was killed and another was injured in a shooting at an Indian restaurant in Edison Saturday.

They say the shooting happened around 2 a.m. when a large party was wrapping up at Akbars along Route 1.

A party promoter tells News 12 the shooting happened outside of the party. According to an event flyer, the second annual Aries Royal Ball was being held at the restaurant.

Police say a 31-year-old Newark man is dead while another man from Newark is in critical condition. Officials have not yet released the identities of the victims.

The flyer says the event would have prominent promoters and DJs. The theme for this year was African Royalty.

Hotel guests at the Quality Inn say they called the front desk last night due to noise complaints.

Managers of Akbars say they have no comment on the shooting.
