WAYNE -

Parents in the Pines Lake community of Wayne are being told about a case of whooping cough.

According to school officials, kids with prolonged coughs should see a doctor.

Whooping cough is also contagious and spread through coughing or sneezing.

School districts in Chatham and Summit reported cases earlier this year.

The disease can be deadly in infants who are not vaccinated.
