A company is voluntarily recalling one lot of a blood pressure medication due to trace amounts of an impurity that has been classified as a possible carcinogen, according to the FDA.

A company is voluntarily recalling one lot of a blood pressure medication due to trace amounts of an impurity that has been classified as a possible carcinogen, according to the FDA.
American Health Packaging is recalling the following product:
Valsartan Tablets USP 160 mg, 100 count Unit Dose Blisters, Carton NDC#: 60687-139-01, (Individual Dose NDC: 60687-139-11), 179791, Exp. Date: 3/31/2020
The product is used to control high blood pressure and is distributed nationwide.
Patients who are prescribed Valsartan are advised to continue taking the medication until their doctor can prescribe an alternative.
No injuries have been reported.
N-Nitrosodiethylamine, or NDEA, is has been classified as a probable human carcinogen.
