VIDEO: Driver hops curb to get around school buses; kids nearly struck
Police have arrested a man from Brooklyn after they say he was caught on video driving onto a sidewalk, almost striking children, in order to get around a number of school buses.
The incident happened last week on 53rd Street in Borough Park as the kids were walking into Talmud Torah Imrei Chaim Viznitz.
According to police, Samuel Itzkowitz Jr., 23, was arrested Wednesday for hopping the curb and driving his car on the sidewalk.
The video shows four kids walking from the street onto the sidewalk, coming within feet of the vehicle, before it speeds off.
Itzkowitz has been charged with several counts of reckless endangerment, among other charges.
He is set to appear in court in April.
