Hoboken officials are revamping some parking rules around the city and have put an effort to make traveling and parking around the city a little earlier.

Starting Monday, the price of parking could increase per hour depending on where you are in Hoboken.

“It’ll be $3 or $3.60 depending on where you are on Washington Street,” says Hoboken Transportation and Parking Director Ryan Sharp. “Elsewhere, away from Washington Street, it’ll be lower. It will be $2 per hour.”

Officials say that there will be four different parking zones. They say that they hope that the change will help turn over more parking spots in Hoboken’s busiest areas.

Officials will also cut the price of parking in several city-owned parking garages to $4 for the first hour. The city’s HOP shuttle will also now be free for all passengers.

People who work in Hoboken will now be offered $5 a day parking in city garages to help free up some street parking spots.

There are no changes to residential parking permits or policies in Hoboken under this plan. More information can be found on Hoboken’s city website.
