Lawyers release list of alleged abusers with ties to Archdiocese of New York

Lawyers in New York City have published a list of the names of Catholic priests accused of sexual abuse and claim the Archdiocese of New York isn't being transparent with its parishioners.
The Anderson List, named after the law firm that compiled it, consists of 112 Catholics who've worked for the Archdiocese of New York and have been accused of sexual misconduct with children.
Attorney Jeff Anderson says he hopes the names included on the list will convince Cardinal Timothy Dolan to release his own.
Anderson says the Archdiocese of New York, which covers 10 counties, is just one of two across the state that has not published a comprehensive list of alleged abusers in its ranks.
His office searched through decades of claims with the archdiocese alongside lawsuits, settlements and media reports to identify priests, deacons, brothers and nuns with credible accusations against them. Anderson says several have ties to the Bronx.
He says he believes the archdiocese knows of hundreds more who have not been made public.
An archdiocese spokesperson responded to the list in a statement that says, "The Archdiocese of New York has consistently released names of priests found to have credible and substantiated allegations of abuse brought against them." They also says that allegations are referred to the appropriate district attorney and parishioners are notified when a cleric is removed from his position within the church.
According to Anderson, all but one of the accused in his list are no longer active in the Catholic Church.
