Pedestrian fatally struck on NJ Turnpike in Newark

NEWARK -

A man was fatally struck by a car on the New Jersey Turnpike early Saturday morning, police say.

News 12 New Jersey is told that the pedestrian was struck in the southbound lanes around 12:40 a.m. in Newark.

The driver remained on the scene.

Police say it is still unclear why the man was on the highway.
