Prosecutor: Pair stole thousands pretending to represent high-profile rappers

Two Union County residents are facing charges in an alleged music promotion scheme.
County prosecutors say that Yusuf Nadir, of Roselle, and Natiyah Flagg, of Elizabeth, were involved in the crime.
Nadir allegedly convinced investors to enter into bogus contracts to have high-profile rappers, like Lil Wayne and Lil Yachty, perform at show and events they were planning. Nadir did this by using false identifies, according to investigators.
Officials say that Flagg’s name was used to establish and incorporate multiple music industry-related businesses. She allegedly also opened bank accounts in the name of those fictitious businesses.
The pair was allegedly able to dupe victims out of more than $60,000.
They face a variety of charges, including theft by deception.
