A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest of the suspect wanted for shooting four teenagers while they were attending a candlelight vigil over the weekend in Newark.
There's growing outrage in the community, and from elected leaders, as a 16-year-old remains in critical condition at University Hospital.
The family of Jayla Green told News 12 New Jersey Sunday night the teen recently started showing brain activity, which is progress, but she's still fighting for her life.
According to police, Green and three other women were hit by gunfire late Saturday night while lighting candles for two teens who died on Bergen Street.
The three other women who were hit are expected to be OK.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka says this is a "cowardly act of hatred that pierced the hearts of all in our community"
News 12 also spoke with Green’s cousin.
"Whoever you are, my family is going through their hurt right now,” says Jovonna Hinnant. “Just turn yourself in or whatever. Just turn yourself in, because you broke my family heart."
Gov. Phil Murphy also responded, saying, "Devastated by the shooting of four young women at a vigil last night in Newark. This shameful act of gun violence has no place in NJ."
