SOUTH BRUNSWICK -

A family was forced to flee their home Wednesday after a fire started in the basement.

The fire started around 5:30 p.m. inside the home on Fresh Ponds Road in South Brunswick.

Firefighters say that when they arrived the house was fully engulfed in flames.

It is believed that the fire may have been caused by an electrical power strip in the basement, but the official cause has not yet been determined.

No injuries were reported, but officials say that the home was badly damaged.
