Ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrates new center for the blind

A special ceremony was held Tuesday afternoon in Downtown Brooklyn to celebrate a new center for the blind.

Helen Keller Services helps hundreds people of all ages with vision or other physical impairments get the tools they need to be independent – at no charge.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated a move into a new building from its old one just three blocks away.
Helen Keller Services says the space is bigger, more technologically advanced and better suited for kids.
Whether it’s getting around for themselves, cooking a meal, or landing a job, the instructors at the center tell News 12 that their goal is to empower people to have a vision for their lives.
