NYPD manhunt spills into Nassau, puts schools on lockdown

An NYPD manhunt that spilled into a Nassau County neighborhood had the community on edge for hours Tuesday.
Residents in the Five Towns area were left wondering exactly what was going on as local schools and yeshivas were placed on lockdown, with helicopters hovering above.
Moshe Torczyner, of West Hempstead, says he was in the middle of a final exam when he and his classmates were told they weren't allowed the leave the building.
The NYPD says members of its warrant section were seeking an individual in southwestern Nassau. As a precaution, schools were placed on lockdown around 10 a.m. and stayed that way for a couple of hours.
A report by Yeshiva World claimed a suspect had been apprehended, but the NYPD said that its warrant section was still pursuing the suspect and that no arrests had been made.
Police did not provide further details.
