Police in Morris County are investigating two robberies that they believe to be connected – one in East Hanover and another in Randolph.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Office says that the suspect held up an Exxon Gas Station and then a 7-Eleven just after midnight last Thursday.
Surveillance video shows the suspect was first spotted outside the Exxon station in East Hanover. He was seen wearing a gray hoodie, black ski mask, blue gloves and checkered sweatpants. He appeared to be waiting for customers to clear away from the pumps. He then walks into the store with a gun and attacks the attendant who was counting out $400 in cash.
Police say later that night he drove 11 miles away to a 7-Eleven in Randolph. He is spotted again on surveillance video wearing the same outfit.
Employees tell News 12 New Jersey that the robber walked behind the counter, threatened a worker and stole around $100 in cash. Employees say he did not target the gas station attendants.
The victims tell News 12 that they believe that the suspect is a black man.
Morris County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest or indictment. Anyone who may have information about the robberies should call 973-267-2255 or 1-800-SHERIFF.
