Closter public schools closed Monday following death of principal

Closter public schools will be closed Monday to remember one of their principals who died last week.

Alfred Baffa, 61, was the principal at Hillside Elementary.

Baffa was on leave, recovering from surgery to treat prostate cancer when he suffered a heart attack Tuesday.

The school district announced both Hillside Elementary and Tenakill Middle School will be closed today.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Tenafly.
