Friday marked the first day that TSA screeners in Connecticut did not get paid for doing their job.

Sen. Chris Murphy is urging the president and congressional Republicans to allow a vote to reopen the government so federal workers can get paid.

"When people can't get paid, they need to go find other jobs--even if they're temporary ones--in order to put food on the table," Murphy said. "There are an awful lot of government workers who live paycheck to paycheck."

While TSA screeners at other airports have stopped coming to work, they are still on the job at Tweed Airport in New Haven.

The National Air Traffic Controllers Association filed a lawsuit Friday against the Trump administration for making them work without getting paid.
