One person died in a tractor-trailer crash on I-95 in Milford Friday, state police confirmed.
The incident happened around 6:35 a.m. in the southbound lanes between exits 40 and 41.
Police say the tractor-trailer hit a guard rail and went down an embankment. The driver was stuck inside of the cab.
The driver was later pronounced dead at the scene.
"Definitely one of the craziest accidents I've ever seen," says witness George Boyd, who called 911. "It was really slow, we were only going about 55 mph."
Police have identified the victim as 57-year-old Jean Fabre-Benoit of Prospect.
It's unclear what caused the driver to veer off of the highway. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
One lane remained open while the left and center lanes were closed as police investigated and worked to clear the crash.
Even hours later, drivers faced heavy traffic on I-95 southbound through Milford. Some other truck drivers told News 12 they went less than three miles in over two hours.
Police say the truck was carrying bottled water.
