FDNY firefighter dies after fall through bridge while responding to accident

NEW YORK -

An FDNY firefighter responding to a car accident in Brooklyn fell from the Mill Basin overpass and later died at a hospital.

Steven Pollard was responding to a two-car accident when he slipped through a gap in the road and fell 50 feet.

Pollard was taken to Kings County hospital, where he later died.

Pollard comes from a family of FDNY firefighters.

His father is retired, and his brother is currently with Ladder Company 114 in Brooklyn.
