A woman from Brooklyn has tested positive for Hepatitis B after having a procedure at the HealthPlus Surgery Center in Saddle Brook.
The 58-year-old woman is one of more than 3,800 people who may have been exposed to HIV or hepatitis at the facility.
A state Department of Health investigation revealed multiple sterilization issues there.
Investigators from the State Health Department found a stretcher with a wet, red stain they say went without being disinfected.
According to officials, they also noticed rust-colored stains on surgical tools.
The report also found some workers did not wash their hands, re-used IV bags and did not properly sanitize tools and trays.
The woman, who does not want to be identified, is also part of a class action lawsuit against HealthPlus.
