NEWARK -

A Catholic priest who just celebrated 55 years in the ministry has died.

Rev. Monsignor Francis Seymour was rescued by first responders last week after he went into cardiac arrest and crashed his car.

The priest was sent to the hospital, but died less than a week after the incident.

He was 81 years old and had worked in over 40 parishes.

A Mass for Seymour will be held on New Year's Eve in the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.
