A new study reveals New Jersey is the state least interested in buying guns.
According to federal data, New Jerseyans went through fewer firearms-permit background checks per capita this year through last month than any state in the U.S.
But that doesn't mean there's no interest at all.
From January through December, the FBI ran about 93,000 background checks for New Jerseyans.
That number is twice as many as 10 years ago.
Background checks are the best gauge of gun-buying interest, since records showing actual purchases aren’t public information.
