On the ‘Naughty List’ – UPS Store jokes about shredding Santa letters

UPS is taking heat after posting a tweet that some people felt crossed the line.
The tweet from the UPS Store said, “If your child addresses a letter to the North Pole, you can leave it with us. We do shredding.”
A spokesperson for the store has told several media outlets that the tweet was mean to be funny and a way for the company to promote its shredding services. But some people weren’t laughing.
“I feel it’s very disappointing. I think that really squashes kids’ ability to be curious, to believe in something great than themselves,” says Bridgewater resident Renee Taveras.
“They did go a little too far on that. Why would you shred little kids’ letter to Santa,” says Liam Roche, of Franklin Township. “I could see how it’s a joke, but at the same time, that’s a little overboard.”
The company has since deleted the tweet.
