NEPTUNE -

Police in Neptune received an unusual call Monday after someone said an "alligator-like creature" was on the loose.

The creature was actually an iguana, which is not typically found in New Jersey.

Police discovered the iguana had escaped from their home and "scaled" a nearby porch, apparently wanting to go for a morning stroll.

The animal was located and returned to its owner.
