New drama ‘The Enemy Within’ films scenes in Paterson

PATERSON -

“The Enemy Within,” a new drama set to air on NBC, filmed some scenes in the Garden State Tuesday.

The network is paying the city of Paterson $1,500 to film there and is covering the cost of off-duty police officers needed for security. Paterson officials have already issued 20 movie and television permits this year.

"We're excited to bring the film industry back to Paterson because it creates opportunities as far as economic development is concerned,” says Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh. “Small businesses will benefit. Think about the hardware stores. They have to buy lumber and other supplies. Think about retail and restaurants. Directors, producers, actors, and actresses have to eat."

Sayegh says that he is looking into increasing Paterson’s location fee so that the city can earn more money from future filming.

“The Enemy Within” stars Jennifer Carpenter as a former CIA operative-turned-American traitor and Morris Chestnut as an FBI agent working to track down a dangerous criminal.

It is set to debut in the spring of 2019.
