Cases of polio-like illness affecting children confirmed in New Jersey

The CDC has now confirmed cases of the rare polio-like paralyzing illness affecting children in 31 states, including six cases in New Jersey.
According to the agency, there are now 286 cases of possible and confirmed Accute Flaccid Myelitis, or AFM.
More than 90 percent of the patients have been kids younger than 4 years old.
For most, AFM starts as a viral illness, before the onset of paralysis.
There is no specific treatment to the virus.
