The Bergen County Prosecutors Office is set to deploy the "Rapid Deployment Team" this holiday season to help make sure shoppers are safe.
According to the Prosecutors Office, the team will be out at malls and shopping centers in an effort to be proactive.
Undercover and uniformed officers trained in community policing and counter terrorism will be looking for suspicious activity, while a team back at headquarters will be monitoring.
"Any time we bring a lot of people together anything could really happen,” says Chief Robert Anzilotti with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. “We're not just there for counterterrorism purposes, but we're also there, like I said, as a force multiplier so that there are uniformed police officers readily available for any emergency."
The "Rapid Deployment Team" is made up of law enforcement officers from the prosecutor and sheriff's offices, as well as 25 municipalities around the county.
