A bill that would legalize marijuana in the state passed a legislative committee Monday.
It still needs to pass the Assembly and Senate and be signed by Gov. Phil Murphy before it becomes law.
The bill would allow possession of up to 1 ounce for people over 21 years old, allow sales from licensed marijuana distributors, create an expungement process and set aside 10 percent of licenses for micro-businesses.
Some members of law enforcement warned they are not ready to police legal marijuana.
Ten states and the District of Columbia currently allow marijuana to be used recreationally.
