A New Jersey state trooper died more than 30 years after he was injured in the line of duty.
In 1987, Trooper Joseph Erb's partner fell asleep and drove off the road while they were on patrol on the Garden State Parkway.
Erb dealt with his injuries for decades. He died on Nov. 8.
His widow, Donna Erb, was given a $10,000 check from the 200 Club of Monmouth County. The money will help cover funeral expenses.
Erb is also survived by his children.
