A 47-count indictment was announced Wednesday against three people who prosecutors say were involved in a cocaine distribution operation based out of Huntington Station.
Adrian Bonilla, 40; Netafal Camacho Hernandez, 27; and Jennifer Perez-Cordero, 28, were arraigned in Riverhead for allegedly selling large amounts of cocaine and crack-cocaine in the Huntington Station area.
The indictment alleges that Bonilla supplied the drugs, Perez-Cordero packaged them and Hernandez sold them.
Suffolk District Attorney Tim Sini says the investigation into the drug ring dates back to last year. The scheme allegedly netted the three $32,000 in profits each month.
He says that sometimes the drugs were hand-delivered to customers. Other times, Sini says customers were met at the Walt Whitman mall.
The district attorney says when they raided the apartment at 30 West Hills Road in Huntington Station shared by Bonilla and Perez-Cordero, the drugs were found near their 1-month-old baby’s bassinet.
“Investigators found a kilogram of cocaine concealed in a plastic bag underneath a bed. Attached to that very bed was a bassinet used to hold a 1-month-old infant. The infant was in fact there when we seized the drugs,” says Sini.
In 2013, Bonilla was involved in another drug bust in Huntington Station. The DEA said $3 million was seized from his home, along with 11 kilos of cocaine.
In 2015, Bonilla was sentenced to six years in federal prison. At the time, Bonilla pleaded with the judge saying, "I'd like to apologize to my community, to the court…I'm sorry for what I have done. I will never let my family down again."
Bonilla was out on supervised release. Sini called him a “career drug dealer” who now faces 25 years to life in prison.
Bonilla was held on $2 million bail at his arraignment.
