A police involved-shooting is under investigation in Mantoloking.

The shooting happened Monday afternoon on Barnegat Lane just off Route 35. The street remained closed Monday night while the investigation was underway.

Ocean County law enforcement officials have not provided any information about the shooting.

News 12 New Jersey has been told that an Ocean County Sheriff’s Office K9 officer was injured and taken to an animal hospital for treatment.

News 12 has also heard that the suspect was shot, but the extent of the suspect’s injuries were not immediately made clear.

Ocean County officials have not said why law enforcement officials were in the area originally or what the investigation was about.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office and New Jersey State Police are all involved in the investigation.
