Man, teen cousin brutally attacked while trick-or-treating

EGG HARBOR CITY -

A 29-year-old Atlantic County man and his 15-year-old cousin were brutally attacked on Halloween night while trick-or-treating, according to the Egg Harbor City Police Department.

Authorities say that the attack happened around 6:48 p.m. Wednesday near Philadelphia Avenue and Arago Street.

Daniel Peterson tells Philadelphia news station WKYW that he believes that he and his cousin were attacked by as many as 15 teenagers.

“I got hit in the face, neck and I blacked out,” Peterson said.

The Egg Harbor City resident suffered a fractured jaw and was slashed on the face.

Peterson’s cousin suffered a concussion, along with scrapes and bruises, according to a GoFundMe Page set up to cover medical expenses.

A motive for the attack was unclear, but Peterson said that he heard the group yelling about candy.

Egg Harbor City police are checking surveillance cameras as part of the investigation.
