Officials say that four people were hospitalized after a tractor-trailer crashed into a deli in Jackson.
Jackson police say that a 17-year-old driver turned into the path of the truck on Route 527 Thursday afternoon, causing the truck to swerve and crash into Glory’s Market. The crash took out a large part of the front of the building.
The truck crashed into the area where a deli clerk was working. That clerk was seriously injured, according to officials. Another patron inside the store was also hurt. That person is said to be in critical condition.
Witnesses say that the 54-year-old truck driver was alert and conscious when he was taken to the hospital. He was said to have had many lacerations from the crash.
The 17-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries.
Cedar Swamp Road was closed for a time after the crash while crews cleaned up. That roadway has since reopened.
